Mildred M. Mulcahy 1923 - 2008 Leavenworth

Mildred M. Mulcahy, 85, of Leavenworth, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at her home. She was born July 8, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Walter J. and Mildred (Samis) Barrett. They preceded her in death.

On May 3, 1986, in Tucson, Ariz, she married her childhood sweetheart Thomas B. Mulcahy. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her 10 children, Peter Cook, Orlando, Fla., Kathy Kunkle, Tampa, Fla., Jeanie Ochoa, Tucson, Ariz., Stephen Mulcahy, Leavenworth, Christopher Mulcahy, Charlotte, N.C., Virginia Kontnik, Englewood, Colo., Terrence Mulcahy, Woodland, Tenn., Matthew Mulcahy, Cameron, Mo., Monica Sommers, Ridgefield Conn., and Bridget Pontbriand, Sierra Vista, Ariz; 23 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Mildred worked as a medical transcriptionist for more than 30 years, retiring from the University of Arizona Hospital. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Legion, Elks Lodge in Tucson, and she enjoyed spending time with her dogs.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
