David C. Burns 1931 - 2009

Edwardsville — Funeral Services for David C. Burns, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 9, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral services. Graveside services and interment will be at the Moss-Clark Cemetery, near Climax Springs, Mo.
Mr. Burns died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was born on July 2, 1931, in Barnumton, Mo., the son of Jim and Ola (Cable) Burns.
On Sept. 4, 1954, he married Sandra Cooper in Benton County, Mo. They made their home in Wyandotte County, where David was employed as a wrecker and car foreman for Santa Fe Railroad from 1954 until retiring in 1990. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his most enjoyable time was spent with his family.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Forest Burns, and two sisters, Juanita and Jewell Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra, of the home; four daughters, Debbie Dodge, and her husband, Danny, of Oskaloosa, Carla Cline, and her husband, Donnie, of Bonner Springs, Terry Burns, of Orlando, Fla., and Nancy Spiteri, of Polo, Mo.; one son, David Burns, and his wife,Tina, of Olathe; three brothers, J.P. Burns, of Kansas City, Kan., Don Burns, and his wife, Sue, of Osage, Iowa, and Milford Burns and his wife, Avialee, of Belton, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
