Spencer Ayers 1924 - 2009 Bonner Springs

Bonner Springs — Services for Spencer Ayers, 84, of Bonner Springs, were Monday, May 11, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Cremation followed the services.
Mr. Ayers died Thursday May 7, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Ayers was born June 28, 1924, in San Benito, Texas. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. After the war, he moved to the Kansas City area and began working for Foley Electric. Later, he became an electrician working around the Kansas City area, and later was the electrical inspector for the city of Kansas City, Kan.
He was a past member of the Lions Club, Optimist Club and Piper school board and was co-founder of Troop 45 of the Boy Scouts of America, as well as a current member of the Bonner Springs VFW.
His former wife, Martha Lee (Weir) Ayers, died earlier.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hoag Ayers, of the home; four children, Spencer Lee Ayers and wife Doni, Bayside, Texas, Dr. Rebecca Knetter and husband Jim. Piper, Deborah Yarnall and husband Gene, Rockport, Texas, and Greg Ayers and wife Pam, a Olathe; two sisters Betty Smith, Rochester, N.Y., and Zetta Thomae, San Benito, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
