Mary A. Hininger 1930 - 2009
Bonner Springs — Services for Mary Ann DeMaranville Morris Hininger, 78, Bonner Springs, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in the Monticello Union Cemetery in Shawnee.
Mrs. Hininger died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at her home
She was born Nov. 29, 1930, in Bonner Springs, the daughter of Cora Downing and George A. DeMaranville.
Mrs. Hininger worked for Sunshine Biscuit Co. and later Russell Stover’s Candy Co. in Kansas City before going to cosmetology school and then opening her own beauty shop in downtown Bonner Springs. The shop remained open until urban renewal took the property. She then opened her business in her own home and called it Mary’s Swirl and Curl and operated it for 35 years before retiring.
Her first husband, Herb Morris, died in 1985. Her second husband, Del Hininger, died in 1999. A son Richard P. Morris, died in 1973.
Survivors include two sons, Herby A. Morris (Betty), Bonner Springs, and Kerby A. Morris (Ginny), Braymer, Mo.; a sister, Frances Cook, Bonner Springs; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends Peggy, Jim, Margaret, Marilyn and Lucille.
The family will receive friends at the visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.
