Burial will follow the service in Hubbel HIll Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church, 204 Washington.
Mr. Olson died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his home after fighting cancer for more than a year. While his journey took its toll on his physical body, his spiritual and emotional presence was only emboldened as the fight continued. His courage and strength never wavered and he passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 12, 1992, in Kansas City, Mo., and grew up in Tonganoxie. He was active in the Boy Scout Troop 357 and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in October 2009. At Tonganoxie High School, Mr. Olson played on the soccer and football teams and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie.
The truest measure of a man is illustrated by the impact he has on others. In this sense Connor excelled in his 18 years on this Earth. His compassion, courage and selflessness set a standard for others to aspire to and provide comfort to his family and friends. He was a blessing to this world and his legacy will continue on through those he touched.
Survivors include his parents, Martin and Sandy Olson; two brothers, Quinten and Dylan Olson and one sister, Shannon Olson, all of the home; paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Merlin and Carol Olson, Celebration, Fla.; paternal grandmother and step grandfather, Eileen and William Jellison, Edgewater, Md.; and maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Nancy and Steve Prosser, Tulsa, Okla.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the Connor Olson Leadership Fund, care of First State Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 219, Tonganoxie 66086.
