Douglas L. Brown 1942 - 2010
Kansas City, Kan. — Services for the Rev. Douglas Loren Brown, 67, Kansas City, Kan., were Wednesday, April 28, at Valley View United Methodist Church, Overland Park. Burial was in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Rev. Brown died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born July 4, 1942, in Flint, Mich., and grew up in Mt. Morris, Mich. He spent 17 years teaching music at Baker University in Baldwin City. He was later called to be a minister in the United Methodist Church and served four pastorates in his 26 years of ministry: Lakewood Heights U.M.C. in Atlanta; Faith U.M.C. in Parsons; Bonner Springs U.M.C.; and Valley View U.M.C. in Overland Park.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Joyce Brown, of the home; two children, Michael (Crystal) Brown, Overland Park, and Elizabeth Brown, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Robert Brown,Clio, Mich.
The family suggests memorials to United Methodist Committee on Relief, sent in care of a United Methodist church.
