Alvin F. Vicker 1926 - 2010 Basehor

Services for Alvin “Al” Frank Vicker, 84, Basehor, will be noon Monday, Dec. 6, at Wallula Christian Church in Lansing. Burial will be in Leavenworth National VA Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Mr. Vicker died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at the Golden Living Center of Lansing while surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Nevinville, Iowa, the son Frank and Nellie Vicker, and moved to the Kansas City area in 1942. Mr. Vicker graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1943. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Okinawa. He worked for Sealright and later Marley Cooling Tower for 13 years. In 1961 he began employment at Skelgas Propane, working for 28 years before retiring in 1988. Later he worked for Mid States Propane, retiring again in 1993.
He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Leona Vicker, of the home; five children, Nancy Mott, and Gordon Vicker, both of Bonner Springs, Brenda Boyer, Basehor, Melissa Adcox, Tonganoxie, and David Vicker, Kansas City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs.
