Nancy Johnson 1947 - 2010

Bonner Springs — A memorial celebration for Nancy Kay Jones Johnson, 62, of Bonner Springs, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Lake of the Forest Clubhouse in Bonner Springs.
Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam.
She was born March 7, 1947, the oldest daughter of Peter and Martha Stydahar. She was raised with her two sisters, Ann Hudson and Sara Leeth, in Topeka, where she attended Washburn University. She was the widow of Mr. Richard Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson spent the past 22 years of her professional career as the Bonner Springs Senior Center director. From her winning Tiblow Days parade floats, to taking Seniors around the country, to decorating for the holidays, Nancy will be remembered for much. A firm supporter of education, she organized the annual Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for the Senior Center Scholarship Program for Bonner Springs graduates.
Mrs. Johnson stayed active with work and the community, holding positions as the Bonner Springs staff liaison for Convention and Tourism, Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce board member, P.E.O. Sisterhood member and past director of the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville USD 204 Education Foundation.
Nancy enjoyed Bunko, Yitts Dinner Club, Trough Club and spending time with dear friends. She was supportive of her children’s activities, including acting as clerk of the course during swim season and actively participating in school as room mother.
Nancy fought a courageous battle against cancer during 2009 until the time of her death.
Survivors include her mother, Martha Stydahar, Topeka; two sisters, Ann Hudson and Sara Leeth, both of Topeka; two sons, Matthew and his fiancée, Jill, and Mitchell and his wife, Nicolle, all of Kansas City; a daughter, Jennifer Anders and her husband, Erin, of Salt Lake City; a grandson; and her fiancé, Bart Betzen.
