Irene M. Tombs 1948 - 2010 Kansas City, Kan.

Services for Irene Marie (Strong) Tombs, 62, of Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1066 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.
Mrs. Tombs died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at her home after a more than 12-year battle with cancer in its various forms.
She was born April 26, 1948, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Carrie Mae and R.P. Strong, and lived in the metropolitan area most of her life.
During her lifetime she accomplished many milestones that caused her great joy, among them were being a graduate of Paseo High’s Class of 1965, as well as being co-owner of Main Line Food Service Inc. in Bonner Springs, alongside her husband of 46 years, high school sweetheart and president of the corporation, Leroy C. Tombs Jr. He survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Dana Irene Tombs, Madlyn Tombs and Jennifer Doering (Jeff); four grandchildren; and her mother, Carrie Mae Strong, all of Kansas City, Mo.
The family will receive friends at the visitation prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the church.
Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, is handling arrangements.
