Calvin Gardner 1930 - 2010 Kansas City, Kan.

Memorial services for Calvin Gardner, 79, of Kansas City, Kan., were Saturday, Oct. 16, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Gardner died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Plaza West Nursing Home in Topeka.
He was born Oct. 31, 1930 in Hartville, Mo., and had been in this area since the early 1950s. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Gardner had previously worked at Griffin Wheel in Kansas City, Kan., and later at Safeway Grocery Warehouse, where he was an order filler for more that 20 years. He retired in 1988.
He was a carpenter and also an auto mechanic, and especially enjoyed attending senior dances and auto races at Lakeside Speedway.
His wife of 34 years, Phyllis Gardner, died in 1987. A son, Robert A. Gardner, died in 1980.
Survivors include five children, Marg Harris, Eudora, Barb Danforth, Bloomington, Ill., Carol Luckey, Dallas, Calvin R. Gardner, Kansas City, Kan., and Linda West, Overland Park; a sister, Mary Anderson, Springfield, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the favorite charitable organization of the donor.
