Donald H. Dowdall 1936 - 2010

Kansas City, Kan. — Services for Donald H. Dowdall, 73, were Saturday, Sept. 18, at Porter Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Burial was at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Dowdall died Sept. 13, 2010, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
He was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Harold and Melba Dowdall.
He graduated in 1955 from Washington High School.
Mr. Dowdall was a member of Stony Point Christian Church, Kansas City, Kan., and a member of Sheet Metal Local 2. He was a small-business owner and inventor holding two U.S. patents.
He loved barbecue and was a member of the Kansas City Barbecue Society, holding the title of master judge.
In his younger years, he was a volunteer firefighter and deputy constable for Wyandotte Township.
He married Shirley Carter on Sept. 15, 1955. She and a grandson preceded Mr. Dowdall in death.
Survivors include two sons, D. Michael (Shari) Dowdall, Olathe, and Daniel (Diana) Dowdall, Basehor; a daughter, Laurie (Ed) McIntosh, Linwood; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102.
