Charles Richard Shaver 1939 - 2011 Bonner Springs

Services for Charles Richard Shaver, 71, Bonner Springs, will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, Basehor. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Shaver died Monday April 25, 2011, while surrounded by his family at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born April 28, 1939, in Lansing and was a 1957 graduate of Bonner Springs High School.
Mr. Shaver was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. He did his apprenticeship in cabinetry through Rush Sash and Door in Kansas City, Mo. He was a shop manager at Gaywood Cabinet Shop in Merriam and was the cabinet shop supervisor for 29 years at KU Medical Center.
He was a longtime member of Emmaus Lutheran and Risen Savior Lutheran churches. He and his wife, Kay, are founding members of the Animal Cracker Cardiac Support Club of Providence Medical Center. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kay Shaver ,of the home; a daughter, Esther Ann (Ron) Walker, Gardner; two grandchildren; a brother, Harry E. (Nancy) Shaver, Ottawa; and a sister, Barbara J. (Louis) Box, Linwood.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs.
