Eldon L. 'Papa-San' Estes 1930 - 2011 Edwardsville
Services for Eldon L. “Papa-San” Estes, 81, Edwardsville, were Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Estes died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Golden Living Care Center, Kaw River, in Edwardsville.
He was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Bolckow, Mo., the son of Louis and Edyth Leah Estes. He had lived in the Kansas City area since 1962.
Mr. Estes was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He earned a Good Conduct Medal and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of White Church Christian Church, where he was in the choir and men’s club, and the Lion’s Club. He coached baseball, football and basketball and was a Boy Scout leader and 4-H leader. He also was a member of the. “Papa-San” loved woodworking, camping, fishing, baseball, football, basketball and square dancing.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Estes, Edwardsville; six children, Cynthia Cook (Gary), David Estes (Lori) and Brenda Ison (Kenney), both of Raymore, Mo., Karen Edrington and Trace Estes, both of Edwardsville, and Phillip Estes,, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
