Ira 'Bump' Detrick Jr. 1922 - 2011 Bonner Springs

Services for Ira “Bump” Detrick Jr., 89, Bonner Springs, and previously of Kansas City, Kan., were Nov. 22 at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church. Burial was in Edwardsville Cemetery.
Mr. Detrick died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born Oct. 7, 1922, in White Cloud, the son of Ira Sr. and Mamie Detrick. Mr. Detrick was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. He served in the 20th Armored Tank Division of the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II. After returning from the service, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum in Kansas City, Kan., where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 1982.
He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Bush, on Sept. 27, 1943, while home on furlough from the Army. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two children, Debby Beets (Don), Bonner Springs, and Randy Detrick (Terri), Olathe; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
