Gayle 'Wiley' Williams 1935 - 2011 Kansas City, Kan.

Memorial services for Gayle “Wiley” Williams, 76, Kansas City, Kan., were Thursday, Dec. 8, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs.
Mr. Williams died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Sharon Lane Health Center in Shawnee.
He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Gayle and Barbara Williams. He was a star athlete for Bonner Springs Braves football and track teams and later ran track while serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Williams was known by many names, Gayle, Wiley, Butch, husband, Dad and Grandpa.
He delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service in Bonner Springs his senior year. He held several jobs during his working career and supplied doors and hardware for numerous schools, hospitals, and businesses during his career. He worked for Bunting Hardware, S & S Supply, Kansas Builders and Duranotic Door. He was a member of the Builder’s Association. After retiring from the hardware business he worked at Walmart, first in the hardware department and then as a greeter. Mr. Williams also pulled bottle caps at the Rose Room in Bonner and was a bartender at Andy’s Place and C.C.’s Club in Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Williams bowled in numerous leagues throughout the greater Kansas City area and helped his wife run a co-ed dart league. He lived most of his adult life in Wyandotte County, where he coached Little League football and baseball.
Mr. Williams served on Heart of America Roundtable council, enjoyed being active in Boy Scouts of America and camping at Camp Nash.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Williams; two sons, Jay Williams (Wendy) and Danny Williams (Michele); a stepson William (Billy) Kinsel (Ingrid); a sister, Bette Wolverton; and four grandchildren.
