James Durland Kindred Sr. 1949 - 2011
Overland Park — Graveside services for James “Jim” Durland Kindred Sr., 61, Overland Park, were Wednesday, July 6, at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Kindred died Sunday June 26, 2011, at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan., and graduated from Bonner Springs High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. After returning from the service, Mr. Kindred worked as a boilermaker with the Local Union No. 83 until his retirement in 1989.
He was a past master and active member of the West Gate Masonic Lodge No. 438. He was also active in the Abdullah Shrine Legion of Honor.
Survivors include four children, James Duane Kindred Jr., Michelle Kindred, Stephanie (Trent) Lentz, and Teresa (Joseph) Asbell; his mother, Eleanor Vickers; a sister, Linda Hardman; a brother, Paul Kindred; and 10 grandchildren.
