L.J. 'Tyke' Chrisman 1929 - 2011 Easton

Services for L.J. “Tyke” Chrisman, 81, Easton, and previously of the Monticello area in Shawnee, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Monticello Union Cemetery, Shawnee.
Mr. Chrisman died Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Bonner Springs, the son of Peg and Ellen (Tinberg) Chrisman. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School.
While working for the Union Pacific Railroad, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a medic in the Korean War. Upon returning to civilian life, he went on to work at Perk Dog Food in Kansas City, Kan. He later was employed at Sears, Roebuck and Co., as a salesman and later a manager. He retired from Sears in 1984.
Mr. Chrisman was a longtime season ticket holder of the Kansas City Chiefs and still supported the Kansas City Royals.
He married Gertrude (Bender) on Nov. 25, 1953. She survives.
Other survivors include his wife of 57 years, Gertrude Chrisman of the home; three children, Steve Chrisman, Easton, Joyce (Kenny) Webb, Shawnee, and Valerie Lafferty, Lenexa; a brother, Walter Chrisman, Parkville, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriners, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the McLouth United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
