Paul Edward DeGroot Sr. 1921 - 2011 Bonner Springs

Services for Paul Edward DeGroot Sr., 90, Bonner Springs, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mr. DeGroot died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Homestead of Olathe Assisted Living.
Hw was born on Jan. 15, 1921, in Bonner Springs, and was a lifelong area resident.
He owned and operated Booth Paving in Parkville, Mo., retiring in 1978. He then continued to work for several places - Hermes Landscaping, Coleman Equipment, Harbor Construction and for more than 15 years as a groundskeeper at Clinton State Park. He was a member of Rehm’s Park Baptist Church, Bonner Springs Masonic Lodge and Ararat Shrine.
He was married in 1948 to Marion T. Zumwalt. She died in 2003. A son, Paul DeGroot Jr., died in 1992.
Survivors include six children, Paula Peterson, Denton, N.C., Karolyn Miller, Beulaville, N.C., Tim DeGroot, Shawnee, Terry DeGroot, Olathe, and Tom DeGroot and Brenda DeGroot both of Lenexa; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the visitation from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
