Lila Mae Werst 1932 - 2011 Shawnee

Funeral services for Lila Mae (Heideman) Werst, 78, of Shawnee, were Saturday, May 14, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, with burial following in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Werst died went May 11, 2011.
She was born Aug. 17, 1932, in Alma, Kan., to Arthur and Zelda Heideman. Lila married Harley Werst Nov. 22, 1951, and they were blessed with two children, Linda and Robert.
Lila loved children and ran a day care out of her home for many years. She was active at the Bonner YMCA until the last few months when her health prevented it; she made many dear friends there. Lila was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group.
Lila liked to keep busy and enjoyed cooking, embroidering, sewing and making beautiful porcelain dolls. She will be remembered by family and friends as caring, faithful, generous and fun-loving.
She is survived by her husband, Harley; two brothers, Ike Heideman and Pete Heideman; two sisters, Beulah Tenbrink and Ardie Kuhn; children Linda (Danny) Lane and Robert Werst; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
