David Wayne Beck 1955 - 2012 Basehor

David Wayne Beck, age 56 of Basehor, KS. lost his short fight with cancer on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 while surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor with burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with the Rosary Service beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Angels Catholic Church or the International Compassion Ministry both in case of the funeral home.
Dave was born on November 18, 1955 in Lincoln, Nebraska the second of four children to Wayne and Donna (Pike) Beck. He earned his Eagle Scout Badge and was active in sports while attending schools in Kansas City, KS. Dave graduated from Washington High School and went to the University of Kansas where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He married his wife Mary (Myers) on Nov. 20, 1982 in Wichita, KS. Dave owned and operated Davensons Nursery and Landscape in Basehor. One of his true joys was coaching his sons in their Baseball and Basketball teams, winning many games and championships.
Dave is preceded in death by two infant children; daughter Veronica and son Joseph and by his father Wayne J. Beck.
Survivors include his wife Mary Beck, two sons David W. Beck, II and Nathan W. Beck all of the home, his mother Donna Beck of Kansas City, KS., Pamela Wright of Overland Park, KS., James Beck (Mary) of Pleasant Hill, MO., Gerald Beck (Kim) of Kansas City, KS., as well as a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
