David Monroe Stalcup 1928 - 2011

Tonganoxie — Memorial services for David Monroe Stalcup, 83, Tonganoxie, were Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Tonganoxie Christian Church.
Mr. Stalcup died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Leavenworth.
He was born July 25, 1928, in Harrisonville, Mo., the son of Archie and Clara Rosalie (Hicks) Stalcup. He was a 1947 graduate of Harrisonville High School.
Mr. Stalcup enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1951 and served through 1954 during the Korean War. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California and attended advanced training in inventory control at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Mr. Stalcup worked in the area grocery business for Myers Buyway, Kroger, Isis Foods Distributors and Midcentral Sysco Foods, from which he retired in 1992.
He and Clara Ward were married Oct. 14, 1955, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian Stalcup, Kansas City, Kan., and Doug Stalcup, Basehor; a daughter, Ruth Beggs, Tonganoxie; and five grandchildren..
