Jess Cabrera Gonzalez 1920 - 2012 Kansas City, KS

Jess Cabrera Gonzalez, 91, of Kansas City, KS passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Leavenworth Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Leavenworth, KS. Funeral services will be at 7 pm, Thur. evening, June 21, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow at 9 am, Fri. morning, June 22, at the Leavenworth V.A. National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. Friends may call at the visitation from 5 to 7 pm, Thurs. evening, prior to the service, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Edwardsville Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Gonzalez was born July 5th, 1920 in El Paso, TX and was proud to have served for more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a Master Sargent in the early 1960’s. He then worked for General Motors in Kansas City for more than 20 years again retiring in the mid 1980’s. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for nearly 36 years and had been a member of the Edwardsville Christian Church for many years. And he was also a member of the Bonner Springs V.F.W. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and in his later years very much enjoyed his regular excursions to the riverboat casinos.
Jess was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Jermolowitz Gonzalez and his second wife Teresa Novich Gonzalez, a grandson John Dean, Jr. and a brother Philip Gonzalez. And is survived by 3 sisters Ruth Fernandez of Kansas City, MO; Isabel Valdivia of Sterling, Ill; and Laya Loya of Kansas City, KS and Warren and Annette Passler of the home. One son John Dean, Sr. and one daughter Suzette Dean-Seetin. As well as 4 grandchildren, 1 Great granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
