Ada Katrina Tickles 1922 - 2012 Lenexa

Ada Katrina Tickles, 90, Lenexa, KS, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Providence Place. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS. Visitation was from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was held at Greenhills Memorial Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donors choice, preferably for Cancer, Heart Disease or for Children.
Katrina was born February 25, 1922, in Pine, Virginia, one of thirteen children born to Henry and Hattie (Carty) Hamm, and was a true coal miner’s daughter. She attended Richlands High School. She met Charlie Tickles, Jr. and married in 1937. Katrina was a resident of Kansas City since 1961 and worked as a Cook at Schlagle High School for many years. She was a devoted member of Oakland Park Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS and Calvary Baptist Church in Lenexa, KS. Katrina was preceded by her husband of 45 years, Charlie Tickles, Jr. in 1982, sons, Rockey Sr. and Joe Bill, grandson, Brian Tickles, granddaughter, Kathy Bard, son-in-law, Don Hill, and 9 siblings. She is survived by seven children, Dortha Hill (Maurice Clark), Loretta (Leon) Cunningham, Yvonne Tickles, Frances (Wayne) Rudder, Rex (JoAnn) Tickles, and Chuck (Debbie) Tickles, sister, Betty Hamm (Marion) Hunter, brother, Jack (Mona) Hamm, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
