Mildred D. Canaday 1928 - 2013 Shawnee

Mildred D. Canaday, age 85 of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on Wednesday July 31, 2013 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral Services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday August 5th, 2013 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with the burial following in the Edwardsville Cemetery. The family received friends at a visitation from 10 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or the Edwardsville Christian Church both in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
Mildred was born on June 21, 1928 in Lawrence, Kansas the only child of Joseph and Nettie (Suiter) Woolf; they preceded her in death. She graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1946. Mildred married Ronald Canaday on Aug. 18, 1950 in Bonner Springs, KS. She worked at Jones Department Store in Kansas City, MO. and Haver-Lockhart Company. She also sold Tuperware for some time and later worked as a clerk at the Muncie Sand Plant. Mildred was a Den Mother in the Cub Scouts and was a trainer for new Den Mothers. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was a longtime member of the Edwardsville Christian Church. One of her favorite hobbies was genealogy and she was a charter member of the Johnson County Genealogical Society. Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Dahlene O’Neal in 1992. Survivors include her husband Ronald Canaday, Sr. of the home, three sons; Ronald Canaday, Jr. and wife Sue of Denison, IA., Bradley Canaday of Leavenworth, KS., David Canaday and wife Julane of Auburndale, FL., 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
