Thomas Wedekind Klotz 1933 - 2013 formerly of Bonner Springs

Thomas Wedekind Klotz, 79, formerly of Bonner Springs, KS passed away peacefully at his home in Olathe, KS on Feb. 2, 2013 after a lengthy illness. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date at the Lake of the Forest Club House in Bonner Springs, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Stroke Foundation, 5960 Dearborn St., Mission, KS 66202 or to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Pkwy, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Tom was born on October 31, 1933 in Louisville, KY to Robert O. and Edith W. Klotz. He spent his early childhood in Blue Rapids, KS before moving in 1943 to the Lake of the Forest, Bonner Springs, KS. After graduating from Bonner Springs High School in 1951, he attended the University of Kansas, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. Tom worked for Public Service Company of Colorado, General Electric and Black and Veatch, traveling extensively oversees throughout his career. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Church of the Resurrection and served as President of the Board of Directors for Lake of the Forest.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gail, and his children, Dr. Lisa A. Winkler (Randal), Linda P. Peavler, Thomas E. Klotz (Chris) and Andrea L. Klotz (Ruchira). He leaves seven grandchildren, Kristin, Eric, Lauren, Lindsey, Elsbeth, Matson, and Natalie. Tom is also survived by one brother, Robert O. Klotz of Denver, CO.
