Raymond Dean Bombardier 1930 - 2013 Bonner Springs

Raymond Dean Bombardier, age 82 of Bonner Springs, KS. passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Emeritus at Overland Park, a memory care facility. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. The family received friends at a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Alden- Harrington Funeral Home with the Rosary service being held at 7:00p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
Ray was born on February 25, 1930 in Jamestown, KS. the youngest of seven children born to Henry and Alma (Marcotte) Bombardier. He is a veteran in the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He and Dorothy (Knedlik) married on May 5, 1954 in Concordia, KS. and they lived there until they moved to Bonner Springs in 1971. Ray retired from Ideal Truck Line in Kansas City, MO. in 1993. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Bonner Springs Lion’s Club. In his retirement years he enjoyed working part time at Berning Tire and later O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Bonner Springs. He and Dorothy were longtime members of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings Abner, Oneta, Irene, Paul, Jerome and Ronald, his wife Dorothy, and his son Michael. Survivors include his two daughters Sandra Neal (Jim) of Bonner Springs, KS., Cathy Lewis (Robert) of White Hall, AR., 3 grandsons, Michael and Tim Neal and Andrew Lewis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Crossroad Hospice and the staff of Boat House at Emeritus of Overland Park.
