Robert L. Flattery 1921 - 2013 Kansas City, KS

Robert Leo Flattery, 91, of Kansas City, KS passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 11 am, Thur., March 7th at the Edwardsville Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, prior to the service at the church. Robert began his journey of life in Cleveland, Ohio on March 20, 1921, the only child of Leo George Flattery and Lillian Mae Cowan Flattery. Robert attended schools in several states, due to his father’s employment. He graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, MO. After graduation, he was employed by Rival Mfg Co and Sinclair Oil Co
Robert entered the Armed Services in 1942, in the Air Force. He served in North Africa and Italy campaigns. After being discharged in 1945, he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co and later employed at Kelly Field, San Antonio, TX. Robert retired as the Electrical Shop Foreman at Richards Gebaur AFB in 1972. He worked at the Wyandotte County Park from 1974 to 1980.
Robert was a member of the Edwardsville Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was also a member of Smokey Hill RR, Wyandotte County Museum and NARFF.
Survivors include wife Margaret, 3 sons, William R Flattery, Bossier City, LA; David N. Bunker, Lawrence, KS and Mark A Bunker, LaCygne, KS One daughter, Jane Genett, Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great grand children.
