Dennis “Denny” Graff Basehor
Dennis “Denny” Graff, age 66 of Basehor, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 21, 2013, at his home while surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Basehor Baptist Church (3714 N. 155th St. Basehor, KS.) Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday May 24, also at the Basehor Baptist Church. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday May 25 at the Leavenworth National V.A. Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Luke’s Home Health and Hospice or American Lymphoma Society or the Basehor Baptist Church – Missions Funds all in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral home.
Dennis retired from the US Army after proudly serving his country for 20 years (1963-1983) He was a Vietnam War Veteran in the Army he had been a Drill Sargent and with the Military Police. After retiring in 1983 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He worked as a police officer for the Leavenworth VAMC and later retired as a supervisor at the Oklahoma City VCMC.
Dennis was the fourteenth of fifteen children born to Walter and Hazel (Benner) Graff of Syracuse, IN. He was a member of the Basehor VFW, a lifetime member of the DAV and a proud member of the Basehor Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by one son Mike Graff, one stepson Michael Hooper, his parents, seven brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife Doris Graff of the home, one daughter Susi Graff Reynolds (Andy) of Grove City, OH., Stepdaughter Linda Clark (James) of Bonner Springs, KS., Stepdaughter Trish Moran (Bo) of Edmond, OK., Stepson Thomas Sedgwick (Sara) of Bonner Springs, KS. Stepson Jeff Hooper of Edmond, OK., three sisters Bonnie Johnson of Goshen, IN., Mimi Orten (Wayne) of Syracuse, IN., Lori Wheeler (Carl) of Millersburg, IN., five grandchildren Brandon Clark, Bryson Moran, Brittney Clark, Tatelyn Moran and Rebecca Sedgwick, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends Dan Hathaway and Lewis Mitchell.
