Jacob Henry Reiss

Jacob Henry Reiss, Jr., 97, of Olathe, KS and previously of Bonner Springs, KS died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 30, at Fellowship West 303 S. Bluegrass Dr. Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery near Basehor, KS. Friends may call at the visitation from 7 to 9 PM, Monday evening, June 29, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Fellowship West Church. Jacob was born on August 6, 1917 in St. Joseph, MO where he grew up. In 1936 he graduated from KU with a bachelor’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II having fought in the battle of the bulge where he received a Purple Heart. He worked for TWA for 29 years retiring in 1983, he and his late wife of over 70 years, Elizabeth, lived on their family farm for over 50 years where has spent his retirement as a Gentleman Farmer for the last 30 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Reiss in January of 2015, one brother Adolph Reiss in 2012 and one sister Alice Reiss in 2013. He is survived by his three children Gregory Reiss (Sue) of Valdez, AK; A. Elaine Demuth (Tim) of Maple Hill, KS and Terry Reiss (Teresa) of Olathe, KS.
