August 26, 2009
David Fabac ( in Shawnee) says...
“It would have been a good idea had more thought been given to the overall impact of the program.”
Pam Cooper ( in Shawnee) says...
“I've heard of problems with the dealers getting their money from the government, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge since I'm still driving my ‘clunker.’”
Leon Logan ( in Shawnee) says...
“I like the cash for clunkers program because it helps stimulate the automobile industry without direct subsidies or other bail-out programs..”
Peter Ehrlich ( in Shawnee) says...
“The program succeeded in giving the auto industry a huge but temporary spike in business. I would have liked to have seen an attempt to salvage select vehicles for those in need.”
Jean Nelson ( in Shawnee) says...
“The positives: reduction in the number of gas guzzling cars on the road, and a reduction in the new car inventory; the negative: in all liklihood, my grandchildren will be paying off the debt this program incurred.”
Kent Zimmerman ( in Shawnee) says...
“I have mixed feelings about Cash for Clunkers. I suppose the law could not discriminate between dealers of American and foreign autos, but it would have been nice if it could have been designed to help the ailing U.S. auto industry rather than the Japanese or German or Korean automakers.”
