My kiddos thrived in classes of 20 or less. They’re both “slower to warm-up/ask questions,” and more 1:1 teacher time truly increased their overall learning confidence.
Matt Burrow ( in Shawnee) says...
Ideally, I think class size should be limited to 20 students. As the class size becomes larger, it becomes more difficult for the teacher to give the students enough individual attention.

I have family and friends who are teachers, and they express concerns about class size. Those first three years are critical. A class size of either 20 or less seems manageable. A teacher needs to be able to see and to hear every student. Older elementary students in classes of 23 to 25 might do well. Let’s be mindful of teacher’s opinions. We’re trusting them with our most precious possessions.
Brandon Kenig ( in Shawnee) says...
Fifteen to 20 students ensures that a teacher can still spend individual time with each child and teach to several learning styles. Anything larger cannot be tailored or customized to meet individual student needs.
Charles Jean-Baptiste ( in Shawnee) says...
I think that the ideal class size for elementary school students would be between 15 and 22, depending on the skill(s) of the teacher.

For as long as I can remember 25 was the average number of students per class. … I think we should stick with it.
Margery Beardslee ( in Shawnee) says...
I’m not an educator, but I feel anything under 20 students in elementary school is ideal.
Susan Nichols ( in Shawnee) says...
For elementary school students, I would hope for a class size of no more than 20.
