Anything made with fresh tomatoes. Whole, sliced, diced, chopped — in salsa, salad, sauce, soup or juice — or fresh picked in the garden with a shaker of salt handy!

Homemade ice cream. Especially after I get the hand-cranked ice cream maker all set up, then pawn off the more strenuous part to the younger generation while I sit and watch with a sly smile just waiting for that creamy white goodness to chill my innards and treat the tastebuds.

I can’t wait to eat deviled eggs with horseradish as the secret ingredient, complimented by fresh squeezed lemonade.

Watermelon.

My favorite summertime foods are fresh, homegrown grilled vegetables and fruit with barbecue meat or fish and a soothing tall glass of tea. Bon appetit.

My favorite summer time food is something grown in my own backyard, which are tomatoes. Yummy!

Barbecue and watermelon! Nothing says ‘summer’ like cooking brats and burgers on the grill and finishing the meal with a nice slice of cold watermelon.
Tim Dykes ( in Shawnee) says...
A medium-rare filet smothered in pepper, a healthy dose of creamy cucumbers with sea salt and celery seed, and sautéed green beans.

In the summertime, I love to eat food grilled outdoors. I love to grill steaks, hamburgers, chicken, brats, and all different types of vegetables.
