For now, rent the space out for career fairs, conventions and meeting space for events. Long term: a furniture outlet, large clothing retailer or mega bookstore

A center for teen programs that could help with homework, college testing, applications and resumes... Answer No. 2: Consider a homeless shelter for women and children, or veterans, and offer some of the same services.

I would like to see one of the box stores turned into a teen center so our teenagers have someplace to go. An indoor municipal pool that could be offered year-round might be a possibility as well.

I would like to see the vacant big-box stores divided into several smaller spaces, so there is more opportunity to fill these spaces with small businesses.

I would like to see a tutorial learning center in one of Shawnee's box stores, utilizing the many retired experts in the community.

We need more industry in Shawnee, and these vacant buildings would be prime property to invigorate employment growth in the KC Metro area. The city should provide tax incentives to recruit companies then begin negotiations with the owners to increase economic growth in Shawnee.
