“I absolutely try to support locally owned businesses. In Bonner Springs I love all of the downtown restaurants and shops including Bottle 12 Wine Bar and the Pink Zebra! In my neighborhood in Shawnee we love Barb’s Kolache Shop.”

Sydney Shepherd (BSHS senior in ) says...

“I try to support my local businesses. As a matter of fact, I work at the ‘Mom and Pop’ restaurant, Papa Bob’s Barbeque. It’s places like those that have integrity and give a town like ours character. They make us different from every other small town in the U.S. and, not to mention, provide me with a job.”

Blake Waters (Basehor/Piper market president, First State Bank & Trust in ) says...

“We always try to spend our money locally in Basehor. Our restaurants are all very good. We use the Medicine Store as our pharmacy and generally shop at Dollar General and Orscheln’s as much as possible ... Although some are not locally owned, they are active and supportive of our community as well as hiring employees from our area.”
