The Lansing Police Department's D.A.R.E. car recently was refurbished and outfitted with new tires. The Asher family at Main Street Auto Body and Tow donated nearly $5,000 in body work and paint, and Jim Hiatt and his crew at Firestone donated the new tires and wheels. Chief John Simmons said Lansing residents should expect to see the car out on patrol as it is fully equipped and capable of performing such duties. The car's primary role, Simmons said, is to support the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program and represent Lansing as it travels throughout the region.
