Leavenworth County sheriffs investigate a two-vehicle accident Friday night at the intersection of 163rd and Leavenworth Road in Basehor. An Isuzu utility vehicle loaded with landscaping equipment was southbound on 163rd when a westbound car driven by a 21-year-old male hit it. The car continued to travel for some distance before coming to a rest in a ditch on the north side of Leavenworth Road. Witnesses told the sheriff’s officers that the car was seen traveling at a high rate of speed just moments before the accident. Both drivers were taken to area hospitals. The driver of the car was transported by helicopter. The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. For more information on this accident, be sure to check Thursday’s edition of The Basehor Sentinel.

Sad, very, very sad. I heard sirens for what seemed like an hour. The families of all involved have my prayers.
