Basehor-Linwood athletics director Joe Keeler served as the master of ceremonies for the field dedication.
The Kansas City Wizards loaned an inflatable soccer goal to BLHS for fans to use before the field dedication ceremony.
The Basehor-Linwood High School 2008 Homecoming King and Queen Candidates are (from left) Brittany Cunningham, Chandler Schaake, Kara Douglas, Austin Call, Bren Koontz, Jonas Box, Amber Jeannin and Lucas Turner. Underclassmen royalty include juniors Taylor Johnson and Dylan Belt, Sophomores Jessica Farris and Steyr Stubenrauch and freshmen Olivia Cowan and Marcas Box. This year's Homecoming festivities kick off next week with a bonfire Thursday evening, Oct. 2, followed by a parade and football game Friday, Oct. 3, and the dance at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.
Basehor-Linwood School District elementary students (from left) Dalton Lindelof, Parker Rusk, Rachel Tindell, Katherine Karrick, Brock Gilliam, Payton Rusk, Gabby Coleman and Catie Coleman with the help of school and construction officials turn the first shovels of soil Monday evening at site of the future Basehor Intermediate School. The school, located southeast of the 155th and Hickory streets intersection, is expected to be completed by winter 2009.

The celebration was short-lived, however, as the Bobcats dropped a 3-2 decision in double-overtime to visiting Sumner Academy.
