Erica Smith (13) and her Bonner Springs High School teammates celebrate after knocking off rival Lansing during the 2010-11 girls basketball season. It was Smith’s final game against Lansing and the first time she’d been a part of a victory against the Lions. Smith, the Braves’ lone senior this year, helped lead the BSHS girls to their best season since 2002-03.

There has been plenty to celebrate on the local sports scene in 2011, from multiple state championships by the Basehor-Linwood High School track team to the resurrection of the basketball programs at Bonner Springs High School, the BLHS football team’s 10-win season and two wrestling state champions at BSHS.
Smith set higher standard at BSHS, named Senior Athlete of the Year
Erica Smith did a little bit of everything during her time at Bonner Springs High School.
