Bryan and Susan Burleson of Basehor receive two free books from Laura Carroll, adult services librarian at Basehor Community Library, at Kelley's Grille and Bar in Basehor on Monday. Carroll was handing out free books in honor of World Book Night. About 25,000 people around the country are distributing free books today, Carroll said. She was giving out copies of "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie — her top book recommendation right now, she said — and "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini.
