Rocket Camp July 19, 2006
As part of the “Totally Tech Zone” summer camp at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, 15 campers recently spent a week learning about rockets, robots and planes.
Tyson Edwards, 9, right, Tonganoxie, shoots his rocket into the air with the help of Ben Reynolds, 17, Tonganoxie. Reynolds was one of the teens who organized and taught the weeklong camp for younger youths. The camp centered on rockets, robots and planes.
Ryan Grammer, 16, Tonganoxie, left, helps Dustin Zink, 9, Easton, connect the wires of his rocket to the ignition switch that will launch a homemade rocket into the air.
Seth Ahart, 11, Tonganoxie, left, and Will Kibler, 11, Tonganoxie, help their robot navigate a maze. The robot, which the boys made during a weeklong camp, was programmed to move around the center obstacle and successfully push a ball into a goal at the other end.
