Kansas Goal King October 26, 2006
Basehor-Linwood senior Austin Knipp hit the charts and the soccer net this season by becoming the all-time, leading goal scorer in Kansas history.
Austin Knipp, Basehor-Linwood High School senior, set a new Kansas soccer record when he scored his 97th career goal Tuesday night against Eudora. Knipp has scored more goals in his career than any other Kansas high school player, at any level.
Throughout his career Knipp has earned the respect of his opponents for being classy and humble, as well as a great scorer.
Even on the brink of great accomplishments, Knipp remained focused and committed to his team. Here he’s seen leading the Bobcats in a pregame stretching routine an hour before tying the state’s goals record against Bonner Springs on Oct. 19.
Knipp secures the ball in a game against Bonner Springs earlier this year. Knipp had a goal and an assist to lead the Bobcats to a 2-2 tie against their rivals in the game.
Knipp rips a shot toward the net during the Bobcats’ Oct. 19 game against Bonner Springs. With 18:12 remaining in the first half, Knipp scored his 96th career goal on a penalty kick to tie Maranatha Academy’s Jon Lemmon on the state’s all-time list.
Knipp’s record-setting goal was just as exciting for his teammates. Here, junior Kyle Allen autographs the ball that Knipp used to score goal No. 97 on Tuesday, Oct. 24 against Eudora. After the Bobcats’ 6-0 victory over Eudora the entire BLHS team signed the ball to commemorate Knipp’s achievement.
