One day after earning the final place in the girls 400-yard freestyle relay consolation finals during preliminaries on Friday, the Braves improved to 15th at Saturday’s Class 5-1A state swimming and diving championships at the Capitol Federal Natatorium.

On Friday, Stephens scored twice and Rutherford added a goal in a 4-0 win against Bishop Ward to cap the regular season. The Bobcats’ season, and the two seniors’ careers, concluded Monday in a 6-0 loss to Bonner Springs.
