If it wasn't decommissioned then, it is now!!

Independence, Mo., man killed in K-7 accident

I'm going to say prayers for all involved. If that had happened any later, there would have been school buses on that stretch and I'd hate to think what would have happened then.

Basehor residents raise questions about proposed low-income apartments

I agree, $1,000.00 is a bit much. It's hard enough for young adults to afford anything these days if they are lucky enough to have a job. They should be expected to pay their whole salary on rent after taxes are taken out! They still need to eat!

Orscheln Farm & Home planning to buy former Wolf Creek Marketplace building, pending incentives

We already have two Farm and Home places within 15 minutes of Basehor. That would be a third one. We don't need another. What we DO need is someone with a good, solid business sense about themselves that know how to run a grocery store, that has plenty of capital built up. Not someone with big pipe dreams. We've already been stuck with someone who didn't know what it really takes to run a business without giving the shaft to the residents left behind.

Officials pushing for lower speed limit on Highway 24/40

Why should it take an engineering study? Just simply look at the police reports, that's more important! No wonder KDOT acts like a bunch of idiots, they ARE!

Grocery store to close its doors

I've been going since they opened the doors. Really liked the store. Loved the people. They were so nice. And the floral arrangements were the best of any that I have ever seen anywhere. I wonder where those ladies went to work? I sure would like to buy arrangements from them in the future. I went today and actually shed some tears in the bakery. I have so many good memories of taking my son up there for his sample of baked beans, and his little sample of cake or cookies at the bakery. He enjoyed seeing everyone up there and interacting with them. That's what I will miss most, the memories of taking him to the store, having him help me shop. I hope the store opens back up soon somehow.

Do you support the Basehor City Council’s recent decision to take no action regarding the renewal of City Administrator Carl Slaugh’s contract?

I don't trust Washington, Dysart or Mertz. This will be a long run, I'm afraid. I think they've done the town of Basehor wrong in not renewing Carl's contract. They should be ashamed of themselves.
