Basehor City Council meeting agenda: March 19

Once Loughry's contract was approved by city council, an unlawful order was given to change the contract without their knowledge or approval. And even though there is no proof, word here on this forum is that the current city attorney cleared this unlawful order as being lawful.

"boots" said it herself, before asking for her posting to be removed, it was "okay" to have unloaded shotguns in the police cars because all she had to do was go the Chief or Lt. and get the key to the whatever-she-called the ammo cabinet because "he lives right here in town." All the Chief had to do was fake surprise that all the shotguns were unloaded, hand over the key to the officer who reported it, and get them re-loaded. How uncomplicated and stress-free is that?

The most outrageous one in the Claim is the Chief checking to see WHO was handling the Basehor victim's call about identity theft with his Social Security card and stolen money from his bank account (it does not say the officer went to the Chief), and the Chief having an abusive temper tantrum towards the officer while giving the unlawful order to put it on a non-crime form because his opinion is that it was not a crime that the Basehor victim called in about. Then the Lt. admits he has to go behind the Chief's back to investigate crimes all the time because the Chief doesn't want to deal with it, stating further that the county attorney is backed-up to 2008 with unsolved crimes.

If that is their attitude, the Chief gives an unlawful order to put a genuine crime onto a non-crime form to be filed away, threatening an officer for using the correct crime form in the first place, then the Lt. threatening the same officer for using the incorrect crime form, both no-win situations for all including the victim of the crime, what kind of town do we really have?

Forget about the "Loughry Tribe" vs. the "Tin Foil Hat Tribe." Those of us not in either tribe want bona fide change this time. Who are the actual puppet masters pulling the strings for the puppets in City Hall? They seem to know they can give unlawful orders and get away with it since that seems to be the standard way of getting rid of people down there, just like it was an unlawful order from somebody "higher up" to fire the HR clerk for handling a work complaint, as one more example.

Stand by your opinion, and those of us who are reality-based will stand by ours. In reference to the owner of the current Claim, we saw nothing wrong with the way Officer Cory did his job. There has to have been many other examples of unlawful orders in no-win situations between 2007 and 2010 that the Officer tried to appease for the Chief and Lt., et. al., long before the Officer got fed up and went to HR for help, which is where the Claim starts from, but when the unlawful orders affected either the public or the other officers, he obviously chose to take a stand and got H*** for doing it. Maybe it's you who needs to re--"think-about-it."

Thinkaboutit(anonymous) says…

I'm done debating with you. You clearly think you are too smart for everone here and refuse to give it up. I do hope the claims are dismissed! I stand by my local police and always will. I have had multiple contacts with officer Cory while he was on duty and do not think he was a good officer.(and no he never wrote me a ticket or charged me with anything) I will not miss him as an officer. That's my opinion that's all! No facts, law, or "masters degree"... Just my opinion that will not change!

There needs to be an investigation of any and all monies that may have been misappropriated, and if credit cards have been used in self-aggrandizing ways, there needs to be total and complete accountability in all of those areas. An independent audit needs to be performed of all expenditures. The results of the audit needs to be published so that the public can be fully aware of where every nickel, dime, and penny was expended and by whom. Any conduct by a public official that cannot be legally justified and that conflicts with the law needs to be investigated and punished according to the crimes they have committed.

Forget the labels and focus on what "LR" and "basehordream" have requested. Get those "hidden" files out on the table, and let's talk about the actual issues of facts that those legal documents reveal. The only way you can do anything about it is to stop stalling, and with public transparency and a genuine public debate, a legitimate solution will emerge.
