Walter Morris, a retired 1st sergeant, was an original member of the Triple Nickles and the first enlisted black man accepted for airborne duty in the U.S. Army. He's shown with his family Thursday, Sept. 7, at Fort Leavenworth, where a statue was dedicated honoring members of Morris' 555th Parachute Infantry Battallion.
