Phyllis A. Gable, left, and her brother Charles Gable stand on the land that has been their family's farm since their father bought it in 1921. The two have lived on and farmed the land for 87 years and are now being honored with a 2007 Leavenworth County Bankers' Soil Conservation Award for the waterways, terraces, windbreaks and buffer strips they've added to protect against soil erosion.
