...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CST THIS
EVENING...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL
8 PM CST THIS EVENING.
* TIMING...A NARROW SNOW BAND HAS MOVED INTO NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS
ALREADY. THIS BAND IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD SOUTHEASTWARD DURING
THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS.
* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...A NARROW BAND OF AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2
INCHES ARE EXPECTED. LOCAL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE
WITHIN THE BAND. AREAS ON THE EDGE OF THE BAND WILL RECEIVE
AROUND A DUSTING UP TO HALF AN INCH.
* WINDS...WIND GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH WILL INCREASE AS THE SNOW
ARRIVES. THESE WINDS MAY CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.
* IMPACTS...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL CAUSE PERIODS OF LOW
VISIBILITIES. ACCUMULATIONS ON THE ROADWAYS COULD OCCUR QUICKLY
CAUSING HAZARDOUS TRAVEL.
