...WARMEST DAY SO FAR THIS SUMMER EXPECTED...
.THE HOTTEST DAY SO FAR THIS SUMMER IS EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THE
OZARKS. TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 90S THIS
AFTERNOON WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE 101 TO 105 RANGE.
LOCATIONS ACROSS THE LAKES REGION OF CENTRAL MISSOURI WILL BE THE
PRIMARY AREA EXPECTED TO SEE THE HIGHEST HEAT INDEX VALUES. A
COOLING TREND IS EXPECTED SUNDAY AS A COLD FRONT MAKES ITS WAY
INTO THE OZARKS SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...LOCATIONS GENERALLY NORTH OF I-44 FROM
NOON THROUGH 8 PM THIS EVENING.
* TEMPERATURE...TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE AND UPPER
90S BY 3 PM AND PERSIST UNTIL SUNSET. THIS COMBINED WITH DEW
POINTS IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOWER 70S WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDEX
READINGS BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES.
* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND INCREASED HUMIDITY
WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT RELATED STRESS AND
ILLNESS. THE YOUNG AND ELDERLY...THOSE WITHOUT AIR
CONDITIONING...AND THOSE PARTICIPATING IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
DURING THE START OF THE EXTENDED HOLIDAY WEEKEND WILL BE THE
MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE EFFECTS OF THE HEAT.
