Fair Thee Well

It's been a busy week thus far at the Leavenworth County Fair. The parade Tuesday night is always the first major event. Of course, plenty of activity kicked off the fair Tuesday morning with various check-in and judging taking place. At the opening ceremonies, Rep. Melanie Meier, D-Leavenworth, gave an address. Today, Thursday, Aug. 11, the armband night likely will be a big draw. Armbands are $20 each and carnivalgoers can hop on as many rides as they wish for that price. We've had some stories thus far on the fair, including a look at the Davidson family, which is quite involved in 4-H: http://www.tonganoxiemirror.com/news/2011/aug/09/4-h-important-davidson-sisters/ and another family, the Eberths: http://www.tonganoxiemirror.com/news/2011/aug/09/three-basehor-area-4-h-sisters-will-stay-busy-leav/. Are you making stops for food and other items throughout Tonganoxie during fair week? Locals say it's a big week for business: http://www.tonganoxiemirror.com/news/2011/aug/10/leavenworth-county-fair-week-big-help-local-busine/.
